On November 6, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Global Alliance for Trade in Services (GATIS) will co-host the Parallel Session under the 7th Hongqiao International Economic Forum (hereinafter referred to as HQF) - International Cooperation in Protecting IPR and Fighting Against IPR Infringement and Counterfeiting at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). The forum aims to build a global exchange platform for the protection of intellectual property rights and the fight against infringement and counterfeiting as well as providing suggestions for the global governance of infringement and counterfeiting. The event was co-organized by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Market Regulation, China Association of Foreign-Invested Enterprises, and Development and Research Center of SAMR.
In this new era, we are on a new journey to further improve the capacity and quality of IPR protection and the fight against infringement and counterfeiting, which is of great significance and importance for advancing China's economic restructuring and upgrading, creating a market-oriented, legalized and internationalized business environment, promoting scientific and technological innovation, and contributing wisdom to the construction of a strong nation and the great cause of national rejuvenation.
The Forum has set up a number of sessions, including opening remarks, keynote speeches, topic speeches, panel discussions, etc. It aims at analyzing in depth the new situation and challenges in the current fight against infringement and counterfeiting, exploring feasible approaches to enhance the protection of IPR, sparking off the potentials and vitality of cooperation, gathering the wisdom and strength of relevant parties, contributing to the global governance of infringement and counterfeiting, and sharing the experiences, practices and insights of the protection of IPR and the fight against infringement and counterfeiting in order to convey the "China’s Solution" and issue the "Hongqiao's Voice" on the protection of IPR.
Edward Kwakwa, Assistant Director General of WIPO and Jiang Zengwei, President of the GATIS will deliver the Opening Remarks. The participants will include Jorge Fainstein Day Gastrell, Director of Capacity Building and Training Directorate of INTERPOL, Michael Mangelson, IP Counsellor from U.S. Embassy in China, Naoto Kagoshima, Representative of the Japan Patent Office in China, Julie HERVE, IP Counsellor from French Embassy in China, officials from relevant departments of State Administration for Market Regulation, Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Ministry of Public Security, and China National Intellectual Property Administration, representatives from Chinese and foreign enterprises, such as Skyworth, Taobao and Tmall Group, SKF and AstraZeneca, representatives from foreign embassies, international organizations, and executives from well-known Chinese and foreign enterprises . The attendees will have in-depth discussions on three topics - " Deepening Exchanges and Promoting International Cooperation on Intellectual Property Protection", " Strengthening the Protection and Intensifying the Control of Online Infringement and Counterfeiting", and " Protecting Intellectual Property Rights for High-Quality Development of New Quality Productivity ".
Fighting against infringement and counterfeiting, and protecting intellectual property rights is a systematic project. Taking this forum as a platform and opportunity, we will further strengthen communication and collaboration among relevant parties, encourage industrial organizations and enterprises to bring their enthusiasm into full play, promote comprehensive treatment of infringement and counterfeiting, continuously improve efficiency and governance, and contribute to the development of global IPR cause.

Hongqiao International Economic Forum (hereinafter referred to as HQF) is held in tandem with the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Under the theme of "High-Standard Opening up for Universally Beneficial and Inclusive Economic Globalization", the 7th HQF features the main forum (the opening ceremony of the CIIE and HQF), and 19 parallel sessions under "1+4" sections, i.e. the Press Release and International Symposium on World Openness Report 2024 and parallel sessions under Opening-up for Development, Opening-up for Cooperation, Opening-up for Innovation and Opening-up for Sharing. Meanwhile, closed meetings, including roundtables for foreign-funded enterprises and promotional activities related to "Invest in China", will be organized at the 7th HQF.

CIIE & HQF GALA
The 7th China International Import Expo & Hongqiao International Economic Forum Gala (CIIE&HQF GALA) will continue to be held before the opening ceremony, further enhancing the quality of services provided.
Facilitate networking and meetings. The Hongqiao Forum Secretariat will promptly release guest information to support mutual networking.
Enhance media interaction. Mainstream media will be invited to the event for scheduled interviews and spontaneous on-site interviews with high-profile guests, to enhance visibility. Photography services will also be provided.
Launch the function of message reservation. The information system of the Hongqiao Forum is optimized and upgraded. This system integrates such functions as registration, information inquiry, and guest interaction. It is now operational within the Hongqiao Forum module of the "Import Expo" App and applet.
